What is a pedestrian paradise?

The pedestrian paradise will be held every Sunday (rain or shine) from 12:00 to 18:00 on a 1,300m section of Naha Kokusai Dori (between the Kencho North Exit intersection and Cai On Bridge intersection), where the entire 18m width of the road will be turned into a mall, banning general passenger cars and turning into a pedestrian priority street where cars and pedestrians can walk together.
Open cafes, street performances, events and the International Street Marche are held on the pedestrian street.

The Transit Mall is part of a regional revitalization project that has been implemented since 2007 under the concept of "a people-friendly town, a town that is fun to walk around" to alleviate chronic traffic congestion in Naha City and to address environmental issues.
